Eradicating the Korean Mafia

There is crime in any country. Somewhere it is developed and has great power, such as the drug cartels in Colombia or Mexico, and somewhere it has absolutely negligible power.

For example, in Morocco, Bahrain, or Singapore. In Korea, the mafia had power but suffered very tough purges.

You can hear from anyone that it is safe here and you can walk day and night, and this will be true. But still, to deny that there is no crime is stupid.

Initially, before the appearance of the mafia, there were so-called groups that were formed only for the purpose of being a thorn in a certain place among the Japanese.

After the liberation of Korea, these groups began to gather in criminal organizations. However, in the 60s, the leaders were charged with political crimes, and then the highest sentence was passed. The death penalty.

General and President of South Korea Park Chung-hee, who served in 1963–1979, played a role in the eradication of crime. And although he was killed as a result of the assassination attempt, he managed to do a lot.

However, it will be discussed in other articles, and therefore back to crime.

What he did?

Yes, he simply executed them and that’s it. Many criminals walked the earth, but thanks to Park Chung Hee, they greatly reduced.

After some time, the criminal organizations disintegrated, and all for the simple reason that there were no leaders.

Today the mafia holds 2 branches

  • Prostitution
  • Gambling Business

Businesses such as the arms trade or the drug trade are not possible in the country.

Control has been established over weapons, and drugs in Korea are at least very difficult to find. You can, of course, try, but if you compare Russia and Korea, then Russia, perhaps, will be a hypermarket.

Korean prostitution is officially prohibited, but unofficially it exists and anyone can see what it looks like. Is there a red light district in Holland? In Korea, the same is true in different cities.

In Seoul, I even know where this is located, and by the way, I was there. however, I assure you that my interest were purely scientific.

Why is crime so low?

To answer this question, you do not need to have colossal knowledge about the country, but it is enough to know the way of life of the inhabitants.

Korea is a small country. Moreover, it is so small that some Koreans joke that their country is similar to Lake Baikal. Weird? Yes. However, there is some truth in every joke, and this must not be forgotten.

From infancy, children are told that they should study and enter the most prestigious universities.

For their future wealth, family and environment also depend on this. Therefore, the child is simply stuffed with various circles, tutors, and courses. So, due to lack of time, a Korean child cannot wander around the doorways and drink beer instead of lessons.

It is also worth considering the fact that control is not from the state, but from the side of society itself. It should be remembered here that Korean women have a very “light mouth”.

This means that if a neighbor sees a child of some acquaintance drinking beer and smoking instead of lessons, then she will immediately call the mother of the “lost” child, and punishment in the form of strong cheeks from the father and mother cannot be avoided. Is the meaning clear? I think yes.

How safe is it?

I will give 2 examples that immediately came to mind.

As you walk past the shops, you will surely notice that some of the products are on display outside at any time of the year. And no one would think to steal anything, even given the fact that there are no cameras.

I remember a few years ago, a young lady left a bag with a really large amount of money in the subway.

When she discovered that it was missing, she immediately called the police and found the train containing the bag. The whole amount was whole, and no one even thought to take, open the bag, and take all the money. Here, in principle, few people would think to take something that does not belong to you.

There is a really small number of violent crimes here. For in Korea, there is total control over weapons.

Koreans cannot allow this, and if there is any incident where a person is killed with a firearm, then it does not leave the news feeds for quite some time.

Most of the crimes here are committed on financial grounds. Kickbacks, theft, corruption, and the like are quite rare.
